I wanted to allocate a seperate page for Linzy as not only is she a celebrity mum, but she kindly wrote a very detailed testimonial for me and gave me permission to provide her name and her story on this site; for which I very grateful. Most recently hosting "Say no to the Knife" her personal choices for her birth reflect her "nature knows best" philosophy. She opted for a completely natural birth and this was her first baby. This is her unabridged story.
"Being that this was my first time of having a baby I felt that I wanted to have a woman that was with me that would be able to help Gary and myself through the process so that it could go as smoothly as possible and that Gary could then put all his attention on me.
I was given Deearna number from a friend on my NCT class and I immediately clicked with her on the phone. In all honestly she made me cry out of pure relief that I had found someone that was so like minded with the same visions as me and yet was a strong individual making me feel secure and confident in the process of giving birth.
I spoke with Deearna a lot over the coming weeks and she always sent me through great E mails with helpful tips and knowledge on what to expect whilst providing me with useful info on what things to take to the hospital, creams to buy etc and just generally checking that I was doing alright
When the day finally came and I went in to labour she was in her car and rushing down the motor way in a flash. I did not have a typical birth although I am sure that all births are different. Mine started on Tuesday and finished on Friday morning giving us three long days and two sleepless nights of contractions, extreme fatigue and on my side moments of total despair. I have to say that the only two things that kept me going over these three days were Gary and Deearna. I would never ever have been able to get through those days without her. She was a constant force that helped not only myself but Gary also get through these days when extreme fatigue had set in and I was so tired that by day three I physically could not go through contractions on my own without one of them holding my hips or stomach and helping me through them.
She stayed by my side for the three days and on night two we both lay on the sofa whilst I went through contractions every ten minutes. The final night of day 3 we were waiting to get in to the delivery suite as beds were scarce and Deearna and Gary were going to be sent home at 8.00pm as visiting hours were over. I am a strong independent woman normally however I was absolutely terrified at the prospect of being left on my own in the hospital waiting for a bed and having contractions every 3-5 minutes. Deearna had decided to sleep in her car in the car park and not leave my side the whole night until I got a bed in the delivery suite. Then without me being aware she had strong words with the midwifes explaining she was having to take a labouring women to sleep in the car as I could not be left alone. Just before 8.00pm miraculously I was being taken up to the delivery suite to continue on with giving birth. All night till 6.00am the next morning Deearna did not move from me side once... I truly do not know what I would have done without her.. I know that words on this page can never even come close to what I experienced with her and I know without a shadow of a doubt that I have made a friend for life. What I went through with Deearna and Gary was one of the most special and testing times of my life and at the end of it we gave birth to the most beautiful little boy that fills us every second of the day with unbelievable joy.
I would recommend Deearna to ANYONE that is thinking of taking on a douhla and trust me I am a very fussy lady. There is no one else that you should work with but her."
